The wine-making tradition in Ronda is very old, the first records date back to 47-44 BC, when Ronda was the Ibero-Roman city of Acinipo. Coins from this period are kept in the archaeological museum in Ronda, which show the typical image of the bunch of grapes on coinage, which undoubtedly demonstrates the importance that the vine had in the economic base of the city at that time.
Currently, Ronda has a significant number of wineries, around thirty. The types of grapes grown in our area are very varied: Tempranillo, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha,…
The wineries to visit are the most prestigious wineries in terms of production, with the highest quality wines and the highest number of awards obtained.
They are mainly family-run wineries, where passion is present in every process, from the ageing of the grapes to the final production of the wines.
The wineries in Ronda occupy privileged areas from a landscape perspective, with spectacular views of the Sierras de Ronda or the Garganta del Tajo de Ronda. The average altitude of the vineyards is over 850 metres above sea level and can reach almost 1000 metres above sea level.
Ronda wines have an overwhelming personality, are intense, long and very well defined, and have managed to conquer the palates of everyone, both neophytes and seasoned tasters.
The visits always include a walk through the vineyards, then a visit to the winemaking room, where the entire process is explained up to the final bottling. The visit ends with a visit to the ageing room, where you can discover the entire process from the vineyard to the wine tasting.
The final tasting is always accompanied by cold appetizers and quality products from the Serranía de Ronda: Payoyo cheese, Bondiola (loin type), and other Ronda sausages,…
